When to change your mattress?

"As a child, most often you did not think about your mattress," he says, "As we get older and heavier, we are more aware of our aches and pains. And you will immediately feel it when your mattress is not doing its job of relieving pressure or supporting your back. If you are not getting good sleep, one of the top reasons is that your mattress may be worn out," he further explained.

There is no real guide that explains the expiry date of a mattress. The thumb rule is to replace a mattress every eight-year. However, it may change based on your sleeping position, body type, and the type of mattress.

Gerian suggests listening to your body. "There is no real guide to when to change your mattress. Just listen to your body, it will tell you," he says. If you are having trouble sleeping or feel restless even after a proper 8-hour sleep, then maybe it is time to toss your mattress and get a new one.

How to select the right mattress?

"There are many factors to consider about your mattress choice, and contrary to popular internet mattresses, there is no one size fits all mattress," Gerian says.
